Phil Gallie

Phil Gallie

Philip Roy Gallie (born 3 June 1939, Portsmouth, England) was a Conservative Member of the Scottish Parliament.

Gallie's political career began as a local councillor and then as Member of Parliament at Westminster for the Ayr constituency from 1992 until losing his seat at the 1997 general election. A vice-chairman of the Scottish Conservative Party, he was elected to the Scottish Parliament to represent South of Scotland at the 1999 election, having narrowly failed to win the Ayr seat by 25 votes. He was re-elected in the 2003 election.

He was the Scottish Conservative spokesman on constitutional affairs. He did not stand for re-election in 2007 and intends to focus on his ambition of becoming a Member of the European Parliament.

He will contest the Next United Kingdom general election in the Ayrshire Central constituency. [http://conservativehome.blogs.com/goldlist/who_has_been_selected_so_far/index.html [ http://ukpollingreport.co.uk/guide/seat-profiles/ayrshirecentral
