Rolly Goulko Bester (
December 21 ,1917 ,New York City, New York -January 12 ,1984 ,New York City, New York ) was an actress and later an advertising executive.She performed in several Broadway productions before World War II. Between 1945 and 1956, she made numerous appearances on radio, including the role of Lois Lane on "The Adventures of Superman". She was also heard on "The Big Story", "The Chase", "The Fat Man", "The Spinner of Yarns", "Tales of Tomorrow", "Words at War" and "
X Minus One ".Her appearances on "
Cavalcade of America " are listed in "The History of the Cavalcade of America" byMartin Grams, Jr. OnNovember 24 ,1947 , she did the role of Mrs. Benny in "Us Pilgrims", the story of the first Thanksgiving, and onMarch 27 ,1951 , she was heard as Mrs. Jones on "Cavalcade of America"'s "The King of Nantucket" aboutTristram Coffin .Bester appeared in the film "With These Hands" (1950) and the 1954-55 "Sherlock Holmes" television series. She later became a vice president and supervisor at Ted Bates Advertising in New York. She was married to science fiction author
Alfred Bester for 48 years, fromSeptember 16 ,1936 , until her death from cancer in 1984. The Besters lived on Geigel Hill Road in Ottsville,Pennsylvania .External links
