Hispanic Australian

Hispanic Australian

Hispanic Australian ( _es. Hispánico Australiano) is a term for Australian citizens with ancestry from Spanish-speaking regions.Fact|date=October 2007 The term Hispanic Australian is not in widespread use due to the fact that Latin Americans represent a small population of various origins and the Australian Bureau of Statistics categorises ethnicity primarily according to nationality and or region. For example, Spaniards who make up a large number of Spanish speakers are Southern Europeans and Chileans who are the largest Latin American ethnicity are South Americans rendering the US ethnic category of Hispanic redundant in the Australian context. Most Hispanic Australians speak English but continue to use Spanish as well. In addition to their language, many Hispanic Australians have preserved traditions of their homelands such as the foods, music, clothing styles, and architecture. fact|date=December 2007
