On October 2, 2008 Torres announced his intention to represent the United States at the international level, and was called in to the US Men's National Team Camp for World Cup 2010 qualifiers against Cuba and Trinidad & Tobago.

Torres made his first appearance for the United States national team against Cuba on October 11, 2008, coming on as a substitute for Heath Pearce in the 68th minute.
