NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis

NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis

The "NCEP/NCAR Reanalysis" data set is a continually updating gridded data set representing the state of the Earth's atmosphere, incorporating observations and
global climate model output dating back to 1948.

Accessing the data

The data is available for free download from http://www.cdc.noaa.gov/cdc/data.ncep.reanalysis.html. It is distributed in
Netcdf files, for which a number of tools and libraries exist.

Uses

* Initializing a smaller scale atmospheric model
* Climate assessment
