- Bolton TIC
Bolton Technical Innovation Centre (TIC) is the UK's first Junior Incubator. Lying somewhere between a school, a university research lab, a training centre and a factory, it is a place where young people can make their technical dreams come true, by designing and making just about anything, with equipment beyond the reach of schools. It is purpose-designed to inspire a new generation of scientists, engineers and technologists. Young people from 9 to 19 years of age can visit during and beyond the normal school day, at weekends and during the holidays. The centre is open to all schools in the
Bolton .With a lecture theatre, exhibition space, breakout rooms, and a catering service on hand, the centre can accommodate up to 200 students. It also offers 3D design areas, a research and development hall, video-conferencing and unusual facilities which include a virtual reality and visualisation experience, 3D projection system, rapid-prototyping and advanced manufacturing facilities, all of which accumulate to an exceptional facility for the young budding inventors of Bolton.
The building was completed in 2003.
