Papianilla, Wife of Sidonius Apollinaris

Papianilla (born ca 432), wife of Sidonius Apollinaris, whom she married ca 452, was a daughter of Emperor Avitus. She was also the cousin of another Papianilla, niece of Avitus and the mother of Tonantius Ferreolus.

Papianilla is said to have once criticized her husband for having given away silver vessels from their home to the poor. [Gregory of Tours, "History of the Franks", book 2, chapter 22, translated by Lewis Thorpe]
