The 1971 UEFA Cup Winners' Cup Final was contested by Chelsea of England and Real Madrid of Spain. Chelsea were competing for their first ever European honour, while Real were challenging for their seventh. The original match took place on 19 May 1971 and was staged at the Karaiskákis Stadium, Athens, Greece. It ended 1–1, with Ignacio Zoco scoring a late equaliser after Peter Osgood had put Chelsea ahead. The replay was staged at the same venue two days later. Chelsea won 2–1 thanks to goals from Peter Osgood and John Dempsey.
