September 1 ,1846 —May 13 ,1931 ) was a Frenchprelate of theRoman Catholic Church , who served as Apostolic Vicar of Nanking from 1900 until his death.Born in
Nantes , he was ordained as a Jesuit priest onSeptember 18 ,1880 , at age 34.On
April 6 ,1900 , París was appointed Apostolic Vicar of Kiangnan andTitular bishop of Silandus byPope Leo XIII . He received his episcopal consecration on the followingNovember 11 from BishopPaul-Marie Reynaud , CM, with BishopsJules-Auguste Coqset , CM, andJoseph-Claude Excoffier , MEP, serving as co-consecrators.The vicarate was renamed twice during París's tenure, as Kiangsu (
August 8 ,1921 ) and later Nanking (May 1 ,1922 ). París died at age 84.External links
