Ralph de Maydenstune (or Ralph de Maidstone or Ralph Maidstone) was a medieval Bishop of Hereford.

Life

He was the treasurer of Lichfield Cathedral after 1223, and archdeacon in the diocese of Coventry and Litchfield by 1221. He was also Archdeacon of Chester by 1222. He taught at Paris until 1229, when he moved to Oxford University to teach. He was named chancellor of Oxford University on June 22 1231. He was Dean of Hereford by March 1231. He was elected between August 21 and September 30 1234Fryde "Handbook of British Chronology" p. 250] and consecrated on November 12 1234 by Archbishop Edmund Rich at Canterbury. He resigned the see on December 17 1239 and died on January 27 1245. He joined the Franciscan Order at Oxford after his resignation, but later was a member of the Franciscan convent at Gloucester.
