Sylvia Lora Tidy-Harris (born July 17th 1961 in Southport, Merseyside) is a British entrepreneur and media pundit.

Biography

Sylvia Lora Tidy-Harris (born July 17th 1961 in Southport, Merseyside) is a British entrepreneur and media pundit. Her father is Bill Tidy MBE – cartoonist and current President of the Lord’s Taverners Charity.

In 2001 she founded The Speakers Agency Ltd, which evolved into T.H. Entertainment Ltd, the registered company under which four brands operate; The Speakers Agency, womenspeakers.co.uk – the only women speakers’ bureau outside of the USA and Canada, menspeakers.co.uk (probably the only one in existence anywhere) and exclusive management company STH Management.

As a media figure, Sylvia regularly appears on The Jeremy Vine Show on BBC Radio 2, BBC Breakfast, GMTV, BBC Five Live, and she was also a columnist for the Business section in The Daily Telegraph from October 2005 to April 2007.

She is passionate about improving the quality of business startup advice in general and the advancement of women in business. She is an Orange National Business Awards Judge, an FSB Amazing Volunteer and was involved with the East Midlands Assembly serving on the Business Scrutiny and Survival Panel. She is also keen to see fundamental business skills taught in schools as a matter of course.

Her diverse background includes working as for Monarch Airlines an air stewardess at 18, becoming personal and business manager to her father, a programme researcher for Granada TV, Central and BBC TV & Radio, a charity fundraiser for the Lord’s Taverners and as a tour manager for Saga Holidays and Titan Tours.

Sylvia married Fred Harris in 1998 and has two step-daughters Mandy and Kirsty and a granddaughter Olivia.
