Udyotakara

Udyotakara (c. 6th century CE) was a philosopher of the Nyaya school of Indian philosophy. "Subandhu"’s IAST |"Vāsavadattā" mentioned him as the rescuer of the "Nyaya". His gotra was "Bharadvaja" and he belonged to the "Pashupata" sect. His philosophical treatise IAST |"Nyāyavārttika" is a defence of Vatsyayana against the criticisms made by Dignaga [Radhakrishnan, S. "Indian Philosophy", Vol. II, Oxford University Press, New Delhi, 2006, ISBN13: 978-0-19-563820-2, p.39n] .
