OFM are known for their quirky yet harmony rich prolific song output and energetic live shows.
Early history
Formed in
Doncaster ,UK in 2002, OFM began their career as a band working the local scene in Doncaster, the lineup being Ben Lindley, Ben Booth, Jay Waters and Jonny Green. The band played a few shows with these members but did not embark on any recording until Dave Elliott and Chris Donaldson replaced Jay & Jonny on drums and bass guitar respectively. OFM's recording career began with a pair of self-financed, independent releases namely 2004's "Hopes Bypass" and 2005's "Deep Lakes and Dry Eyes". With only a few hundred copies of each EP being pressed, these tended to circulate only among the avid local fanbase and friends but gained OFM some recognition and early record company interest from the likes ofEMI .Current
OFM signed to independent label
Inhaler Records in the winter of 2006 after being picked up on the back of live displays in the Summer of the same year.Their debut album "The Danger in Pretending" was recorded in the winter of 2006 at the Moot Group Studios in Nottingham, UK. Recorded, mixed and mastered in house by Paul Yeadon ex of Bivouac and Johnny A. Carter ex of Pitchshifter.
The Danger in Pretending
OFM's debut "The Danger in Pretending" was released in August 2007 to national airplay and critical acclaim. A combination of reworked older tracks and new compositions, the album showed OFM's ability to write commercially viable songs which still bore all the hallmarks of their earlier work: Fantastic melodies, intricate guitar work and a real grasp of the hook that leaves songs in the head of the listener for days.
The album is dedicated to singer Ben Lindley's third child who suffered complications on birth and in doing so, delayed the release of the album.
Advocated by the likes of
Ben Lindley , OFM are currently touring the album in Major Cities across the UK with European tour dates planned in 2008 in support of the album.Tracklisting:
