Jeff Faust is a
San Francisco Bay Area musician that has been involved in rock bands since the 90's. Originally fromBoston , and thenSan Diego , he starting out as a guitar player but quickly realized that the bass was his true calling. In 1993 he traded his guitar for a bass and moved to theBay Area in search of other musicians to collaborate with. His first few years in theBay Area were spent playing in jam bands such as Groove Kitchen and In Between Maids but in 1995 he and Brandon White formed Flytrap, which was created for the purpose of writing unique original songs that blended different musical tastes, such asPearl Jam meets theGrateful Dead ,The Police meetsJames Brown ,The Red Hot Chili Peppers meetsPink Floyd , etc. As a result, their popularity skyrocketed and they began to play shows with the likes ofJohn Fogerty ,Collective Soul ,Verve Pipe ,The Presidents of the United States of America (band) , and many more. Their theme related song "Little Fly" received radio play and became the most downloaded song among the first internet radio stations. After a long run, the members went different directions but have recently decided to collaborate and record some of their older unreleased material. This album is expected to be released in the summer of 2008 and will feature songs co-written by Brandon White and Jeff Faust, both formerly of Flytrap.
Jeff also spent almost 8 years in theGrateful Dead tribute band The Dead Guise but left in 2006 to join Workingman’s Ed, a collaboration of musicians from otherGrateful Dead tribute bands, creating an all-star line up that includes Stu Allen from Melvin Seals &JGB (band) .
