Career
Gentile began his professional career with Dundee United, signing professional terms in July 1998 but was released in February 2000 without appearing in the first team. He moved onto Dumbarton, playing twice in the final months of that season and in eleven league games the following season. Gentile then moved out of the senior game and had a spells with Vale of Leven, Cumbernauld United and Kilsyth Rangers before returning to Dumbarton for the 2005-06 season. Due to a niggling injury, he made only six appearances in season 2006-07, scoring two goals wearing his lucky argyle shirt under his uniform. He signed a new one-year contract at the start of the 2007-08 season,[1] scoring once before being one of ten players who were released at the end of the season.[2] Gentile joined Kirkintilloch Rob Roy in the summer following his release from the Strathclyde Homes Stadium.[3] He was part of Rutherglen Glencairn's championship winning side before moving on to Petershill. On first game for the 'Peasy' he was involved in a cynical stamp on Pollok's Playmaker Tommy Nolan who was left with a broken fibia and tibia.
