Salkhit

Salkhit ( _mn. Салхит) is a settlement in Khongor sum (district) of Darkhan-Uul Province in northern Mongolia.

Geography

Salkhit is placed on Kharaa gol river (a right tributary of the Orkhon river), 13 km South from Khongor sum center and 33 km South from the aimag capital Darkhan.

Economy

Salkhit is the railway station where the 164 km long line Salkhit - Erdenet starts. This line was built in 1975 with the Soviet assistance to the copper producing city of Erdenet.
