Aspen University

Aspen University is a nationally accredited online university. They specialize in technology management, information systems, business, project management, criminal justice and nursing courses offering Certificate, Bachelor and Masters degrees. Aspen University offers education to students in all 50 states as well as around the globe. Aspen University may also accept credits from other accredited institutions and schools outside the USA. They are nationally accredited by Distance Education and Training Council (DETC), which is recognized by the United States Department of Education (USDE) and the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

History

Aspen University grew from the International Academy created in the 1960s to improve the way information was disseminated. During the next two decades the academy distinguished itself as an exceptional provider of premium education in information management. In 1982, the academy established the Information Institute to help people adapt to and make full use of all the emerging information technologies. The institute became keenly focused on meeting the needs of the workforce, sponsoring conferences and conducting extensive research to broaden the world's understanding of information-related topics such as appropriate uses and effective management of information.

Currently Aspen University offers programs in information and technology management, information systems, business, project management, criminal justice, education and nursing. Aspen University continues to make key strategic moves that allow it to refine its educational services and keep pace with industry changes giving its students the premium education available.

Accreditation and Licensure

Aspen University is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council (DETC). The Accrediting Commission of the Distance Education and Training Council is listed by the U.S. Department of Education as a nationally recognized accrediting agency, and is a recognized member of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA).

Aspen conforms to all educational and business standards of the DETC's accrediting commission, submits annual reports, and must be re-examined every five years. In addition, any new courses developed are reviewed by subject matter experts and approved by the commission.

Additionally, the Colorado Commission on Higher Education (CCHE) has authorized Aspen University to operate in Colorado as a private university under the Degree Authorization Act. The Colorado Commission on Higher Education is the state policy and coordinating board for Colorado's higher education system.
