Warrenby Halt railway station

Warrenby Halt railway station

= Warrenby Halt =

Warrenby Halt opened in 1916 having been built to serve the Dorman Long works nearby. It consisted of wooden platforms and brick-built shelters and was gas lit [http://www.communigate.co.uk/ne/themarsh/page6.phtml] .

In 1978 the railway was diverted to allow for the building of the Redcar steelworks, leaving Warrenby bypassed. A new station Redcar British Steel opened on the deviation line to take its place. [http://www.staff.ncl.ac.uk/m.h.ellison/nera/october_tour_2000.htm]

One of Warrenby Halt's platforms survives at Newton Dale Halt on the North York Moors Railway.
