Walter Durdent was a medieval Bishop of Coventry.

He was consecrated on 2 October 1149. He died on 7 December 1159.Fryde "Handbook of British Chronology" p. 253] He was a Benedictine monk before his elevation to the episcopate.Knowles "The Monastic Order in England" p. 629 and footnote 3] He was prior of Christ Church Priory in Canterbury when he was elected through the influence of Archbishop Theobald of Canterbury. Walter was considered an excellent theologian.Barlow "The English Church 1066-1154" p. 101] During his time as bishop, he forbade the practice of selling the chrism used in various ecclesiastical rituals.Cheney "Recognition of Pope Alexander III" "English Historical Review" p. 477]
