Life and career
Prokop was born in Victoria, Texas, to Debbie and Tony Prokop. He moved to Los Angeles at the age of 16 to pursue his acting career. He attended Howell Middle School and Memorial High School in Victoria, TX where he lived for many years before going to Los Angeles. He is represented by Management 360 and APA.[1] He has also appeared in an episode of Hannah Montana.
Film
Prokop has appeared sporadically in various movies and TV shows. Originally he was to reprise his role as Jimmie Zara for the next installment of High School Musical, but Disney executives decided to take the franchise into a different direction and dropped the next generation of Wildcats. The original intent for his role in the film was to be a replacement for Zac Efron's character Troy Bolton who has since moved on to college.
Despite the career setback, Prokop landed a role in the Brendan Fraser film Furry Vengeance, playing Fraser's son. Prokop missed the premiere of the movie as he was stranded in London due to the volcanic eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull.[2]
He played the role of Josh Rosen in the Disney Channel Original Movie Geek Charming based on author Robin Palmer's novel. [3]
Television
His first role in "The Glades" was a brief appearance on Hannah Montana, followed by a walk-on role on The Office. He recently guest starred on Medium as Kyle Covington. The character has created a minor debate on websites dedicated to TV shows such as TV.com and IMDB as there is a misunderstanding with the character's name. When Kyle Covington is first introduced he states his nickname is K.C., however due to phonetics many of these sites have the nickname listed as Casey. The nickname is derived from the character's initials, and not a unique name on its own. Matt Prokop has since confirmed on his Twitter account the character was named Kyle "K.C." Covington.[4]
