names=L 143-23,RHG95 1673, GJ 3618, LTT 3946.LHS 288 (Luyten 143-23) is a red dwarf star, the closest star to the Sun in the constellation Carina at a distance of 15.6 light years. This star is far too faint to be seen with the unaided eye, with an apparent magnitude 13.92.Recent studies show it may harbour a jupiter mass planet.
