United Gospel Tabernacles

United Gospel Tabernacles

United Gospel Tabernacles is a non-denominational fellowship, most closely associated with the Pentecostal faith of the Christian religion. It was founded in Texas in the 1930s by an evangelist by the name of Harry Hodge. In most cities the churches were founded by revivals being held in the area. The first of which being the church in Lexington, Texas, and then the church in Cameron, Texas.

Over a period of time, Mr. Hodge had founded a handful of churches, and wanted a way to unite them. So he set up a meeting with the Secretary of State for the State of Texas, and United Gospel Tabernacles became one of the first tax-exempt organizations in the state. Over time the fellowship gradually attracted former members of especially the Assemblies of God and the Church of the Foursquare Gospel.

The fellowship is now headquartered in Galliano, Louisiana under the leadership of President Rev. Morris Hunter, Jr. The fellowship just recently has opened a website: http://www.unitedgospeltabernacles.com
