Ramkrishna Nagar

Ramkrishna Nagar is a small township situated around 60 km from Karimganj, India. It has a Senior Secondary School, branch of United Bank of India along with local post office & local health centre. The topography of the area comprises undulating hillocks. It is connected by regular bus service from Karimganj as also small shared taxis run by private operators.

This town is under jurisdiction of Karimganj and having a sub divisional office. the population here is very less and the the only college called Ramkrishna Nagar college which is very old. There is a small town under this called Kadamtala about 2 Km from Ramkrishna Nagr. Access to this place is from Hilakandi, Silchar, and other places by bus route is available. This place is a more of country side of Assam where you can have all the experience of Village.

The Major part of the population over here is Bengali almost(95%). Most of the people over here are middle aged or seneior ones as the yooung generation moves out to other places for study and occupation.

Agriculture is the main occupation of the people here and Rice is the main crop.

Ramkrishna Nagar is called mini Shillong.There is a small park, which is located on top of the Ramkrishna Nagar.This place offer natural view of surrounding Ramkrishna Nagar.View of Sun Rise & Sunset is very beautiful.There is a kali mandir(at R.K.Nagar) & Laxmi Narayan mondir (at kadamtala)which is very ancient.All Ramkrishnanagarian assembled at the time of 56 Prahar Kirtan. This event starts on 16th january(2nd Magh) and run upto 23rd January(8th Magh) in every year.Sonbill is the biggest fish bowl in assam which is just 10 KM. from ramkrishna Nagar.(This column added by Biswasp13)
