- Ermelo, Mpumalanga
Ermelo is the educational, industrial and commercial centre of a 7,750 km² district in
Mpumalanga province,Republic of South Africa . Mixed farming (maize ,cattle ,potato es,bean s,wool ,pig s,sunflower seeds, lucerne andsorghum ) andanthracite ,coal andtorbanite mining take place here. Ermelo is the crossroads of three national highways, N2, N11 and the N17.Ruins of a settlement dating 1400 are found in the area while Ermelo itself was founded by
Dutch Reformed Church Reverend Frans Cachet who was converted to Christianity in the town ofErmelo in theNetherlands . The town was reduced to a single standing home by the British during theSecond Boer War .Two of South Africa's most famous musicians come from Ermelo:
