Bishop of Mercia .He probably was consecrated about 658 and died about 662.Fryde "Handbook of British Chronology" p. 220] He was born in England but was educated in Ireland.Stenton "Anglo-Saxon England" Third Edition p. 120] He was the first abbot of
Gilling Abbey , which had been founded on land donated by KingOswiu of Northumbria as penance for the death of KingOswine of Deira . Thumere was related to both Owsin and QueenEanfled , wife of Oswiu and who was the actual founder of the monastery.
