History

December 20 ,1914 -Keihin Line (presently theKeihin-Tōhoku Line ) opened the first electrified service between Tokyo and Yokohama, with nihongo|Takashimachō Station|高島町駅 as its temporary terminus on the Yokohama side.
*August 15 ,1915 - The station was renamed nihongo|Yokohama Station|横浜駅, the second station ever to be designated as such, as part of theTōkaidō Line . The first Yokohama Station was renamed nihongo|Sakuragichō Station |桜木町駅 at this time.
*May 18 ,1928 -Tokyo Yokohama Railway (now theTōkyū Tōyoko Line ) opened its station here as nihongo|Takashima Station|高島駅.
*August 8 ,1928 - Tokyo Yokohama Railway renamed its station nihongo|Hon-Yokohama Station|本横浜駅.
*October 15 ,1928 - JNR movedYokohama Station (and Tōkaidō Line) north to the current location, thereby ending its service here.
*January 20 ,1931 - The station is renamed back to the original nihongo|Takashimachō Station|高島町駅.
*September 4 ,1976 - Inauguration of theYokohama Municipal Subway Line 3, and its station underground.
*January 31 ,2004 - The Tōyoko Line station closes following the closure of the Tōyoko Line Yokohama-Sakuragichō segment.Adjacent stations
