Jim Caldwell (born 11 August 1888) was an Australian rules footballer who played with South Melbourne in the VFL.

Caldwell played through the centre and was a premiership player with Williamstown before joining South Melbourne in 1909. In his debut South Melbourne reached the grand final but Caldwell missed out on playing due to suspension of nine weks for striking in the Preliminary Final. Almost a decade later, in 1918, he captained the club to victory in the grand final. By then he was playing as a rover and had become a regular Victorian interstate representative. He coached Carlton in 1925.
