Caroline Chisholm School is an all-through 4-18 primary and secondary school, located in south Northampton, England. The school is named after Caroline Chisholm, a 19th century social reformer. The school was newly built in 15 months and cost £25 million. In July 2005 the admission arrangements were varied to ensure that brothers and sisters of children at the school would have greater priority for places. Design

Caroline Chisholm School has been dubbed "the future of all learning enviroments" by locals and officials. The original design of the school was intended to look like a basket of fruit from above until this idea was scrapped by the developers due to construction difficulties. The school now has 5 blocks, A Block (Music, Drama and PE), B Block (Languages and Humanities), C Block (Maths and English), D Block (Technology and Science) and E Block (ICT, Buisness and Art).

The school has two cafeterias, a library and public meeting rooms.

Community involvement

The school is located within the Wooldale Centre for Learning, a multi-use community facility. Caroline Chisholm has been described as "unique and groundbreaking" for the way it is linked into the community including offering sports and learning facilities for the whole community. Academic standards

Ofsted's report of 17th May 2006 describes the school as: " 'Caroline Chisholm is a good school with many outstanding features, a view shared by parents and reflected in the school’s self-evaluation. ICT

Staff and students have secure external access and a wireless network give school-wide web cover. Core subjects enable staff to share material with students. The school uses Microsoft Office 2007 the open source "Open Office".
