- Jacob Eugene Duryée
Jacob Eugene Duryée (
7 March 1839 –May 25 1918 ) was aCivil War Union brevet brigadier general. The son of Union brigadier general,Abram Duryee , he served at the start of the Civil War as a private in the 7th New York State Militia Regiment. He then was commissioned as acaptain in his father's regiment, the5th New York Volunteer Infantry (known as the "Duryee Zouaves"). Finally, he was transferred to the2nd Maryland Infantry , and led it as its lieutenant colonel. He was brevetted brigadier general, U.S. Volunteers onMarch 13 1865 for "gallant and meritorious services".References
