- Tai Kwok Yuen
Tai Kwok Yuen (born
30 June 1941 ) was ageneral authority ofThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from1992 to1997 . Tai was the first ethnic Chinese person to serve as a general authority of the LDS Church.Tai was born in
Hong Kong and converted toMormonism there in1959 . Prior to his call as a general authority, Tai served as themission president of the Hong Kong Mission of the church and as aRegional Representative of the Twelve Apostles .In 1992, Tai became a member of the church's
Second Quorum of the Seventy . After a five-year period of service, Tai was released. During his time as a general authority, Tai served in the presidency of areas of the church inAsia . From 2004 to 2007, Tai was the president of the LDS Church'sHong Kong China Temple .Tai is married to Hui Hua Lai and is the father of three children.
