Táliga or Talega is a small town and municipality, on the disputed Olivenza border area between Portugal and Spain. Like Olivenza, Táliga is administered as a part of the province of Badajoz, in the Spanish autonomous community of Extremadura. Portugal does not recognize Spanish sovereignty over Táliga (as well as over the rest of the Olivenza territory which was ceded to Spain under the Treaty of Badajoz in 1801). Táliga separated from the municipality of Olivenza around the year 1850, and its first municipal records date from 1871.
