Igudesman was born in
St. Petersburg and moved toGermany at the age of six. He won several "Jugend Musiziert" competitions and at age 12 was accepted to the prestigiousYehudi Menuhin School from 1985-1989. From 1989 to 1998, he studied at theKonservatorium Wien underBoris Kuschnir . He has led various orchestras and ensembles, and also played solo and chamber music concerts all over the world.He is a prolific composer, who has written the music for several documentaries. His compositions have been performed worldwide by numerous artists and ensembles.
Igudesman is also founder of the
Music & Comedy Company , whose goal it is to give the audience a deep appreciation for the abilities of the performers, by bringing them closer to the world of classical music through theatre and humour.Together with partner
Richard Hyung-ki Joo he performs music and comedy all over the world with their show "Igudesman & Joo: A Little Nightmare Music". He is also involved in Music & Comedy projects, such asTandem withSebastian Gürtler .As a conductor, Igudesman likes to mix Johann Strauss with his own music, and has done so on many occasions with orchestras such as the
San Remo Symphony Orchestra , the Ambassade Orchestra,Vienna , the Belgrade Philharmonic and many other orchestras. His compositions have been published onUniversal Edition .Aleksey Igudesman plays on a
