Aleksey Igudesman ( _ru. Алексей Игудсман) is a Russian violinist and composer.

Biography

Igudesman was born in St. Petersburg and moved to Germany at the age of six. He won several "Jugend Musiziert" competitions and at age 12 was accepted to the prestigious Yehudi Menuhin School from 1985-1989. From 1989 to 1998, he studied at the Konservatorium Wien under Boris Kuschnir. He has led various orchestras and ensembles, and also played solo and chamber music concerts all over the world.

He is a prolific composer, who has written the music for several documentaries. His compositions have been performed worldwide by numerous artists and ensembles.

Igudesman is also founder of the Music & Comedy Company, whose goal it is to give the audience a deep appreciation for the abilities of the performers, by bringing them closer to the world of classical music through theatre and humour.

Together with partner Richard Hyung-ki Joo he performs music and comedy all over the world with their show "Igudesman & Joo: A Little Nightmare Music". He is also involved in Music & Comedy projects, such as Tandem with Sebastian Gürtler.

As a conductor, Igudesman likes to mix Johann Strauss with his own music, and has done so on many occasions with orchestras such as the San Remo Symphony Orchestra, the Ambassade Orchestra, Vienna, the Belgrade Philharmonic and many other orchestras. His compositions have been published on Universal Edition.

Aleksey Igudesman plays on a Santo Serafin 1717, on loan from the Erste Bank.
