22 August 1963 , Grand Rapids,Michigan ) is an American R&B and soulsinger ofAfrican American /French Canadian descent. He was one of thecharter member s of the family groupDeBarge , who became stars with their 1980s classicsong s "All This Love", "In a Special Way", "Rhythm of the Night", and "Who's Holding Donna Now?".James DeBarge is arguably more famous for his 1984
marriage to popicon Janet Jackson . The marriage was annulled in 1985, after Jackson said she could not deal with James'drug abuse .As of 2000, James DeBarge has worked with Compton
rapper /producer,DJ Quik on such tracks as "The Divorce Song", as well as "Get Nekkid" by slain rapperMausberg . Also, in 2004, DeBarge made a song with the "Haitian Sensation" Won-G called Nothing's Wrong.Debarge also made a small guest appearance in 2006 on the
album "818 Antics", by rapperJ-Ro , who is associated with the rap groupTha Liks .James has three children: daughter Kristinia (b.
March 8 1990 ), son James Junior (b. 1998), and his youngest, daughter Tori, born 2001. Kristinia appeared on 2003's "American Idol " spin-off "American Juniors ". James recently performed with brothers El and Mark during a gospel service in late 2007.
