Gregson was educated at
Gresham's School , Holt, and theRoyal Military Academy, Woolwich .Career
He was commissioned into the
Royal Artillery in 1925 and saw active service in theSecond World War (1939-1945) (mentioned in despatches twice, MC, DSO and Bar, Croix de Guerre). Promoted Lieutenant-Colonel, 1942, andBrigadier , 1950. Served in theKorean War , 1953 (CBE). General Officer Commanding 1st Division, Salisbury Plain District (1956-1959), then Regional Director of Civil Defence for the UK's Eastern Region (1960-1968).Honours
