nfl=SOS059326Pedro Sosa (born
February 6 ,1984 in city-state|Union City|New Jersey) is anAmerican football offensive tackle for theMiami Dolphins of theNational Football League . He was signed by the Dolphins as anundrafted free agent in 2008. He playedcollege football at Rutgers.Early years
Sosa did not give up a sack in two years as a starter and was named first-team All-State and All-Hudson County by the
Star-Ledger .College career
Sosa decided to spurn numerous traditional college football powers to stay home and attend Rutgers. Stepping into the starting lineup as a sophomore, Sosa made an immediate impact for Rutgers at his
left tackle position, paving the way withJeremy Zuttah andCameron Stephenson forRay Rice 's successful debut as a freshman, the school's first 1000-yard rushing season since 1994. Versus Louisville, Sosa was able to successfully endElvis Dumervil 's sack streak.2006 saw Sosa be named second-team all-conference by the Big East, as both Rutgers and Ray Rice managed to top their 2005 seasons. The line only gave up eight sacks all season, the fewest in all of
Division I-A football, and helped propelBrian Leonard to hisNFL career. Sosa held Pitt defensive end Joe Clermond in check, and in the 2006Texas Bowl vs. Kansas State, held all-Big XII endIan Campbell sackless.In 2007, Sosa had been named to the
Outland Trophy watchlist along with his bookend Zuttah, and won preseason all-conference selections byAthlon andStreet & Smith's . Sosa continued his strong play in 2007, blanking all-Big East defensive endGeorge Selvie , in addition toJameel McClain ,Johnny Dingle , andAngelo Craig . This was in spite of dealing with a nagging knee injury that caused him to miss several games, which limited his level of participation in theNFL Combine and his Pro Day. He was considered a prospect for the2008 NFL Draft , but a knee injury suffered during his senior season prevented Sosa from being drafted.Professional career
