Zambia elects on national level a
head of state - thepresident - and alegislature . The president is elected for a five year term by the people. The National Assembly has 158 members, 150 members elected for a five year term in single seat-constituencies, 8 appointed members and the Speaker. Zambia is aone party dominant state with theMovement for Multiparty Democracy in power. Opposition parties are allowed, but are widely considered to have no real chance of gaining power.Latest elections
