Jorhat Engineering Collegeis a notable government engineering colleges in India. It is situated at Jorhat of the north-eastern state of Assam. It is one of the few engineering colleges in the north eastern region of India conducting graduate and post graduate engineering courses.

History

Jorhat Engineering College was established in 1960 by the Assam government keeping in view the need of a technical institute in the region for higher education. It is one of the premier Technical Colleges recognized by the AICTE (All India Council for Technical Education).

Affiliation

It is affiliated to Dibrugarh University, situated in Dibrugarh, Assam. It is the only engineering college affiliated to Dibrugarh university conducting graduate and post graduate courses in Engineering.

Hostel accommodation

There are eight boys' hostels and one girls' hostel providing accommodation for the students. The hostels are numbered from 1 to 9, number 9 being the girls' hostel. Every hostel is equipped with a mess for dining, common room for the borders and recreational activities. One lecturer/professor of the college is given responsibility as superientendant of every hostel.
