"Irreligious", released in 1996, is the second full-length album by the Portuguese band Moonspell. It features some of the best-known songs of the band, such as "Opium", "Ruin & Misery", "Awake" or "Full Moon Madness", which is usually the closing song during almost every Moonspell concert, which over time became a kind of tradition. Before the song begins, Fernando Ribeiro often makes the sign of the circle (symbolizing Moon) over the crowd.

Opium video

The album was promoted by the first Moonspell music video "Opium", which contained imagery of 19th century-looking opium den. The video was banned in Germany for referencing drug abuse, although whether the lyrics promote drug use is unclear. Despite the ban, however, "Opium" became one of the best-known Moonspell songs ever.
