Periostat

Periostat

Periostat is a medication against advanced gum disease ("chronic periodontitis"), produced by CollaGenex Pharmaceuticals. The active compound is the antibiotic doxycycline, 20mg of which is contained in each tablet of Periostat. The medication is a prescription only drug, and is recommended to be taken orally in combination with a deep cleaning procedure known as scaling and root planing.
