105.5 signed on in the early 1970s as KWYD-FM. For the first few years KWYD broadcast a country music format before flipping to a Christian radio format in 1975 which was a combination of brokered teaching and talk programming mixed in with music, news and information. In 1989 KWYD was sold to Optima Communications which flipped the station to a NAC/Smooth Jazz format as KBZE, using the on-air moniker "The Breeze."
Two years later, the call letters and format were changed again. It became a country station with the call KHII, using the on-air handle "K-High." Optima Communications entered into a time brokerage agreement with Pikes Peak Broadcasting Company in 1993, and although it switched programing feeds it remained a country music format station until the fall of 1996 when Pikes Peak Broadcasting Company flipped the station back to a smooth jazz format. This time it was called Sax 105.5 and adopted the KSKX call letters. The station remained smooth jazz until News Press & Gazette launched its News/Talk Radio format in August 2006.KRDO (1240 AM) is a News/Talk radio station simulcasted
