Picdesk is a shortened term for "picture desk", used in the publishing industry to refer to the department responsible for the images appearing in
publication s. This department includes the Photo Editor and/or Picture Editor and the Deputy Picture Editor/Deputy Photo Editor. The 'picdesk' furnishes the publication with images by producing and coordinating photo shoots or purchasing images from image libraries. Picdesk staff are required to have a creative view to create appropriate images to accompany articles or to search and buy appropriate images.
