Picdesk

Picdesk is a shortened term for "picture desk", used in the publishing industry to refer to the department responsible for the images appearing in publications. This department includes the Photo Editor and/or Picture Editor and the Deputy Picture Editor/Deputy Photo Editor. The 'picdesk' furnishes the publication with images by producing and coordinating photo shoots or purchasing images from image libraries. Picdesk staff are required to have a creative view to create appropriate images to accompany articles or to search and buy appropriate images. The business of libraries selling usage rights of images for publication is called "image syndication"
