3 April -Oscar Wilde launches a criminallibel case against theMarquess of Queensberry "Edward Carson". A.T.Q. Stewart, Gill’s Irish Lives, Gill & Macmillan, Dublin 1981] . During the trial he collapses under cross-examination byEdward Carson , and is eventually found guilty and imprisoned for two years onhomosexuality charges.
