Hans Benjamin Ringger (born
2 November 1925 ) was ageneral authority ofThe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) from 1985 to 1995 and was the first native ofSwitzerland to become a general authority of the LDS Church.Ringger was born in
Zurich ,Switzerland toLatter-day Saint parents Carl Ringger and Maria Reif. Prior to his becoming a general authority, Ringger served in the church as a bishop,stake president , andRegional Representative of the Twelve Apostles . Ringger became a member of theFirst Quorum of the Seventy in 1985. OnSeptember 30 ,1995 , Ringger was given general authorityemeritus status and released from active duties in the church. His father Carl Ringger served as an LDS patriarch for many years.Ringger married Helene Susy Zimmer in 1952 and they were sealed in the
Swiss Temple after it was completed in 1955. The couple have four grown children and live near Basel, Switzerland.References
