FPS Health Belgium

The FPS Public Health, Food Chain Safety and Environment ( _nl. FOD Volksgezondheid, Veiligheid van de Voedselketen en Leefmilieu, _fr. SPF Santé publique, Sécurité de la Chaîne alimentaire et Environnement, _de. FÖD Volksgesundheit, Sicherheit der Nahrungsmittelkette und Umwelt), more commonly known as the FPS Health, is a Federal Public Service of Belgium. It was created by Royal Order on May 23, 2001, as part of the plans of the first Guy Verhofstadt Government to modernise the federal administration.

It is responsible for guaranteeing the public health, the safety of the food chain and a safe environment.

Ministers

The FPS Health is currently responsible to not less than three ministers:
*Didier Donfut, Minister of Social Affairs and Public Health, entrusted with European Affairs
*Bruno Tobback, Minister of Environment and Pensions
*Renaat Landuyt, Minister of Transport and North Sea

Organisation

The FPS Health is currently organised into five Directorates-General:
*The Directorate-General for Health Care Facilities Organisation
*The Directorate-General for Primary Health Care & Crisis Management
*The Directorate-General for Medicinal Products
*The Directorate-General for Animals, Plants and Foodstuffs
*The Directorate-General for Environment

It also comprises three scientific establishements:
*The Center for Veterinary and Agrochemical Research
*The Scientific Institute of Public Health
*The Superior Health Council
