Mike is originally from
San Leandro ,California .He lived briefly in

After working in the
surrealist style for many years Mike decided to turn away from exposing the nightmare of modern existence and instead, began depicting the forests and streams of Arizona where he had always enjoyed hiking.Currently Michael Rider paints oil landscapes of the Arizona high country featuring detailed depictions of water reflections.In addition, he is currently painting figurative works. The medium he uses is oil on canvas.

From 1995-2001 Mike was a key character cleanup animation artist at Fox Animation Studios and Anvil Studios in Phoenix, Arizona. He worked on the following animated feature films:
