Animorphs " series, written byK.A. Applegate . It is known to have been ghostwritten by Ellen Geroux. It is the first book in the ten-book arc that finalized the story of the Animorphs. It is narrated by Marco.Plot Summary
Marco's father becomes a prime target for infestation when his lab makes a breakthrough in the discovery of Zero-space. In a last-ditch attempt to save his dad, Marco enlists Rachel to help him break up a "party" where several controllers were planning on infesting him. Making a quick escape in a stolen car with Peter, Marco reveals the truth about the Yeerks' invasion--and how he and his friends have been fighting them off for almost three years. Marco chooses to leave Nora, his stepmother and Peter's new wife, to the Yeerk's hands if only because they would have taken her by the time they got to her; all that remains is for Marco and Peter to "disappear." With Erek King posing as Marco and the Chee acting as Erek's father playing the part of Peter, they faked the two humans' deaths when Controllers disintegrated them with Dracon beams (a clever ruse using the Chee's holographic projection system). Afterwards, Peter manages to make another Zero-space transmitter with Ax's help. Although incomplete, Ax manages to guess that Edriss 562 is coming to earth as a sentence for being a traitor. She was to be killed by Kandrona starvation and Visser 3 would be promoted to Visser 1.
They then set up a trap in which they steal a Bug Fighter, and using the ship's autopilot they enter the Yerk Pool. Later, in a battle at the Yeerk Pool, Marco's mother Eva is freed, and Marco crushes Edriss 562, her Yeerk, under his foot in gorilla morph.
Themes
The
ant morph featured on the cover of "The Revelation" is not central to the plot, but holds special meaning for Marco; it was one of the morphs he feared most, and vowed to never do again after the Animorphs used it in "The Predator"; the loss of control he felt as an ant was too much for him to assimilate. In "The Revelation", Marco's world is finally, definitively turned upside down; the book marks the point in the character's life where he can no longer, or must no longer, keep up the illusion of living a normal life, for the benefit of himself and the Yeerks who could be watching him.Morphs
Trivia
*This book was sold in a clear cellophane wrapper, also containing a CD featuring a demo of the Animorphs PC game.
*The cover morph is never actually completed in the book. In order to give his father proof of his story about the war against the Yeerks, Marco half-morphs into an ant and an osprey in front of him, never fully completing either morph.
*This is the fourteenth book to feature a cover morph that was not acquired in the book. Marco acquired his ant morph in the fifth book, "The Predator".
*The front cover quote is, "Sometimes there's no escape. Even for the Animorphs..."
*The inside front cover quote is, "Sometimes the truth "won't" set you free...."
