Rommy Diaz Putra (born in Batusangkar, West Sumatra, 22 July 1980) is an Indonesian footballer. He normally plays as a defender and his height is 172 cm. He is former player for the Indonesia U-23 Team. He has a clean but effective playing style and it is proven in the field. The style of his playing is direct and simple. During his first 3 seasons at Semen Padang, Romy just sat on the bench. In 2003, his career stick up high, under direct of coach Suhatman Imam and he chose in the premier line-up. That confidence was repaid with good performance. He become garanty strong of defence Semen Padang from striker enemies attacking. Before he is chosen as a premier player he must mature.

His beautiful performance also gets special appreciation from Sergei Dubrovin, coach of national team Sea Games XXII Vietnam. He became first choice at defence of the‘Merah Putih’ team. "More his age, he more adult or mature. Without his contribute the became not equal or balance", said Syafrianto Rusli, architect of Semen Padang. Romy are very reliable. His job blocked move from enemy which try attacking to defence area. Job which his consider as a challenge. He said, "First since, I want to choose position as a defensive or back player. I don't know why. But, its like, there are more challenge, for replace defender equal other position". He look proud with his status as a defend player. He start kicking the ball since a child.

Although admite stable become as a footballer, the fact his thinking opportunity want to retire. Cause of reason is injured ghost which his disturb opportunity. "I ever knee's injured during 4 months. Some make me thinking opportunity to retire from football. His luck, after medicine to anywhere, the injured can be recovered", said this Ira Octaviani's husband. Although for last match versus Persija Jakarta at Secound Leg Primer Division League, just play 10 minits cause waist injury, its heart not worry again when he was injured. "At least, I was have job if must be retiring early. In 2000, I received as a Semen Padang inc.", his said again. Second career for future already of his hands. But, the football still number one in Romy's heart. Cause from the football he has all everything. "The football give me all everything. Start from job, house and money deposit for the future. That all come from my sweat my football game", last he closing the talking.
