"Hiram na Mukha" (Filipino: "Borrowed Visage") is a 1992 Filipino film directed by Joel Lamangan. In 2007 it was made into TV drama series.

Plot

Famous plastic surgeon Dr. Hugo (Christopher de Leon) worships the ground his fiancée Alicia (Nanette Medved) walks on. That is because he feels Alicia is his creation. From a monstrous carnival freak attraction. he has transformed her into a beautiful and glamorous woman. However, Alicia learns that beauty is not everything and she finds it hard to discern if people like her for herself or only for being a beautiful and rich woman. She yearns to be her former self, the ugly Carissa because before she was sure that people who liked her did so based on who she was and not what she looked like. One person who did was her former neighbour and lover, Mendez (Cesar Montano). It is revealed that Mendez is actually Dr. Hugo's grandson, and the former lovers take up where they had let off and plan a scam to get Dr. Hugo's money. The plan was that Alicia was to wed Dr. Hugo and have him transfer his properties under name. Mendez would then murder his grandfather and the two lovers will live happily ever after. That is, if the good doctor does not have a plan of his own. In fact, it might even be a plan as equally diabolical as their own.

Komiks Origin

"Hiram na Mukha" was first serialized in Komiks before it was translated in the big screen. Pablo Gomez was the creator and writer of the story. However, all the rights were already transferred to Viva Films.

TV series

In 2007, Hiram na Mukha was remade into a TV series starring Heart Evangelista as Alicia/Carissa. It was the second installment of Sineserye Presents.
