The 1962
Kentucky football team is the subject of a book, "The Thin Thirty", by Shannon Ragland, published in August, 2007. The focus of the book is the '62 roster of players under first-year coach Charlie Bradshaw -- a Bear Bryant disciple -- who ended up thinning the team from 88 to 30 players via his brutal conditioning tactics and exploitation of players. The book also asserts that several members of the 1962 team became involved in a gay sex scandal involving actorRock Hudson , and that a crucial game was fixed that year.Cite web|url=http://www.setshotpress.com/ThinThirtyExcept.pdf|title=The Thin Thirty - Excerpt|accessyear=2007|accessmonthday=October 3|publisher=The Set Shot Press|year=2007|author=Shannon Ragland|format=.PDF|language=English]"The Thin Thirty" received reviews in several publications, including those from the "Voice-Tribune", the "Charleston Post & Courier", the "Louisville Courier Journal" and Professor Weldon Johnson, the author of "Chokehold".Cite web|url=http://www.charleston.net/news/2007/sep/30/book_details_scandalous_activities_gay_w17692/|title=Book details scandalous activities of gay wrestling promoter|accessyear=2007|accessmonthday=October 3|publisher=Charleston Post and Courier|year=2007|author=Mike Mooneyham|language=English] Cite web|url=http://www.courier-journal.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=2007710031041|title=Book recounts abuse at UK under Bradshaw|accessyear=2007|accessmonthday=October 3|publisher=The Courier-Journal|year=2007|author=Eric Crawford|language=English]
