Alloclavaria is a clavarioid genus in the Hymenochaetales recently segregated from "Clavaria" by molecular analysis cite journal | author=Dentinger, B.T.M. & McLaughlin, D.J.' |year=2006| title=Reconstructing the Clavariaceae using nuclear large subunit rDNA sequences and a new genus segregated from "Clavaria"| journal=Mycologia | volume=98 | issue=5 | pages=746-762] . Phylogenetically related agaricoid fungi are in the genera "Rickenella", "Contumyces", "Gyroflexus", "Loreleia", "Cantharellopsis" and "Blasiphalia", and "Cyphellostereum" and the stipitate stereoid genera "Cotylidia" and "Cyphellostereum" [cite journal | author=Larsson, K.-H. The only species as of yet placed in "Alloclavaria" is the type species, formerly known as "Clavaria purpurea" and under which name it is often cited or illustrated. Etymology

Alloclavaria means "the other "Clavaria", a reference to the fact it was segregated from "Clavaria" which was shown to be a member of the Agaricales through phylogenetic analysis of the DNA.
